That's how many books we collected this month to donate to the Birmingham Reads Book Drive Challenge. Way to go OLS! This was our first year participating in this annual event to support literacy in our community and it won't be our last! (Which means save those books for us for April 2017!) Thank you, thank you, thank you to Mrs. Dorn for her support and to every student, parent, teacher, and staff member who donated new and gently used books. And a big shout-out to our own Mr. Calvin who made the delivery of all 18 HEAVY boxes possible today! It's takes a village, right? And what a village we have! |

Yeeehaw! We are rounding up book donations for the Birmingham Reads Book Drive Challenge. Please bring your gently used titles to one of these corrals now through April 21st: the basket in the school foyer or the box inside the library. On Friday, April 22nd, we will deliver all of the donated books to the Junior League for the local Better Basics reading program which distributes them to children identified as at-risk in the greater Birmingham area. We're excited to be participating in this annual event for our first time, especially since it is a great fit with OLS School's service learning values. Click below the photo for a copy of the flyer that is going home with your child this week and please feel free to contact me with any questions. Thank you for joining us to promote literacy in our community!
