Ultimate Author Day was amazing! I enjoyed it thoroughly and I don't know what I would've done without Mrs. Turkiewicz! She was the key to making sure the equipment needed for Mr. Arroyo was set up and ready to go and she managed so many last-minute book purchases with incredible patience and grace. We sold out of the Will Wilder books and had quite the hospitality spread in the library courtesy of our perfectly wonderful PTO. So many teachers, staff members, volunteers, and guests were key to making the day wonderful. But my favorite part was seeing ALL of the finished student books on display all over the library! Every single student is a "published" author here which does wonders for their literacy learning. Here are a few photos of our ultimate authors' books, including some eager Kindergarten students enjoying theirs today!

WHO's COMING The students anticipate a FUN day full of guest readers, authors, and other professionals, and a very special keynote speaker this year - author and radio talent Raymond Arroyo. Besides his EWTN radio show and his outstanding books about Mother Angelica, his first children's book has received rave reviews. We can't keep it on our shelf before it's checked out again, but we have a second copy on the way! The Relic of Perilous Falls is an adventure novel and the first in Mr. Arroyo's "Will Wilder" series. It's recommended for grades 4 - 7 and he will be signing books at UAD. Another author we're excited to feature, Nell Branum, has co-written wonderful primary source material - along with Dr. Fran Carter, founder of the American Rosie the Riveter Foundation - by many women who worked behind the scenes during WWII. Their essays are fascinating! She's also published a cookbook with recipes from the "Rosies" as well as other very accessible books for children about WWII (with original photos) and a retro-style manners book for our youngest students. Also appearing will be Brother Leo combining science experiments with Catholic faith, and author Kari Kampakis with a special offering for Jr. High girls: 10 Ultimate Truths Girls Should Know. There will even be a musical offering by The Rennas, a Catholic family with several CD's to their name. WILL THEY BE SIGNING BOOKS/CD'S? All of these books & CD's are available to order now and, yes, they will be signed. To pre-purchase, please click on the pdf below and send it to the library by Tuesday, May 10, with payment attached. *BONUS A portion from many of the sales will be donated to our school library fund - yay! Thanks to all who make this possible!
