- Students need to plan ahead if they want to be featured on the OLS School Library “Summer Reading Wall of Fame” in August! Students who bring me proof that they completed their local public library’s FREE SUMMER READING PROGRAM will have it posted for all to see. I hope the giant bulletin board gets so full we fill up the nearby wall with 100’s of OLS readers!
- Grade level summer book report forms are posted on the “Summer Reading” link at the top of this page, along with reading lists for each grade level.
- Did you see our Peace Quilt? Every student made a square during a library lesson in an effort to “pass the peace” this year and our finished product is now featured on the front page of this website. Also, the paper-square quilt will be a new art installation on our library wall. The students truly enjoy looking at the many different signs of peace that their peers created, as well as finding their own among the 400+ squares!
- Speaking of Peace, our amazing Library Aid Mrs. Turkiewicz made the decision to retire from her position this year and we are so sad to see her go! A framed print of our Peace Quilt was our way of thanking her for the dedication, generosity, and talent she shared with this OLS family for 5+ years. Stay tuned for news as we welcome our new Library Aid in August.
May everyone's summer be filled with rest, restoration, and reading of course!
