After a slight delay getting checkouts started due to shelf repairs, the students are finally bringing books home! We were greatly blessed with a skilled and generous family donating their time and resources to reinforce wobbly shelves over the weekend and I am overwhelmed with gratitude. This week students will be learning the library routines for using shelf markers, checking out at the circulation desk, and how to properly return their books. This year, classrooms will no longer rely on one student to return their books. Instead, each student will return his/her own books anytime the library is open as long as they have their teacher's permission. For more information, click on Services & Scheduling. For now, we can't wait to see students "hugging" their library books as they head back to their classrooms!

I have big shoes to fill and I am deeply honored to be entrusted with the task. My dream team of aides and I – Mrs. Turkiewicz and Mrs. Mayfield – have been redecorating the walls and preparing to welcome students and teachers starting next Monday, August 24th. We are blessed to have new computers running the new Windows 10, new blue carpet and new energy-efficient LED lighting. We’ve also installed new art on the walls: book trees and large signs for the three main sections of the library: Fiction, Information (non-fiction), and Everybody - which is the new name of the picture-book section, because everybody enjoys a wonderful picture book now and then!
*Please stop by and come see YOUR new school library. I look forward to meeting you. |
