Is it too early for my child to read chapter books?
Bringing picture books into middle and high school classrooms
So this just happened in the library, proving that you are never too old to enjoy a read-aloud from a picture book (exactly why we've named this section the EVERYBODY section.) These Jr. High students chose this activity on their own - without any prompting...from anyone. With time to explore the library after completing a test in their classroom, this is what they did... and they seemed to love every minute of it.

NOW SHOWING in the library: 1st graders have filled our display case with artifacts to help us "Fall for Fall" and 2nd graders have brought their continent projects for everyone to explore. Stop by and take a look at these unique works of art. They'll be gone after Oct. 30th! Dictionary Skills: Third grade is brushing up on their dictionary skills, especially on the use of guide words. Here is the link we used during a lesson today to practice this tricky skill in case anyone (even 4th grade on up) wants unlimited practice from home. http://www.turtlediary.com/grade-2-games/ela-games/how-to-use-dictionary.html Destiny Quest: All students in Grades 2-8 have had a lesson on how to use the new interface for our online catalog "Destiny Quest." I encourage students and parents to make use of access to our catalog from home anytime by clicking the link at the top of this web page. Resource lists are also available on the front page of the catalog based on seasonal themes or grade level needs. This online catalog has several capabilities to help students find just the right book or suggestions or even web sites so feel fee to explore it with your children anytime. |
