This is the story I shared in the library during Holy Week. I have loved this version of this tale for a very long time. It felt like a special blessing to add it to our library collection. The following 6-minute video readaloud of this book is lovely. Students not familiar with the story were in awe as it unfolded and the loud claps at the end had me overjoyed. They got it! And they wanted to watch it again! Unfortunately many students did not get to see it due to our short week. By sharing it here, I hope everyone can see it again or for the first time during Spring Break. It is a simple yet powerful way to celebrate God's mysterious, miraculous love. Happy Easter! |

WHY?
For the first time ever, OLS will participate in the “Birmingham Reads Book Drive Challenge!” That means we will be competing with other schools in our area to collect the most books in April. HOW? Please take time during Spring Break to look through your closets & bookshelves for gently-used K–5th Gr. children’s books (no board books please.) They will be distributed to at-risk children through literacy programs provided by Better Basics. More details to come after Spring Break but start your piles now. BONUS! The school that collects the most books will be awarded $1,000 & the school that collects the most books per pupil will win $500. Thank you for supporting literacy in our community!
